Carla Gonzalez is a 22-year-old artist who was born in Havana, Cuba and moved to the United States 8 years ago. Her interest for the arts started at barely 6 years old and as she grew up, she kept developing her knowledge and experience with the support of her family. After living in the island for 14 years, she started her High School journey in Homestead, Florida, finally graduating from Forest High School in Ocala, Florida in 2020. In 2022, she received her Associate in Arts degree from the College of Central Florida and was granted the opportunity to create a mural for the Dassance Fine Arts Center at CF. This allowed her to be on the cover of the Connection magazine and to appear on one of the May issues of the Ocala Gazette. Gonzalez likes to spend her free time on a plane, she loves traveling and visiting museums from all over the world to get inspiration to work on new pieces. She loves animals, good books, art in all its forms, and good coffee.
"Blend Blend" is a painting I created during a live painting session for a popular Miami event, also called "Blend Blend." The inspiration behind this piece was my love for coffee, colors, and art. Moka pots are my absolute favorite thing to paint and I thought this abstract take on the well-known object was very fitting for this "Color Pop" exhibit. I created this piece with a palette of just primary colors and repeatedly grabbed a different one every time, without ever cleaning the brush, letting all the colors blend in and displaying a brighter complexion on the otherwise "black and white" figure.
