KMUArt Designs

I was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. A true Floridian! I graduated from Vanguard High School and the University of Florida with two bachelor's degrees in science. I received my master's from Rush University. My career has been in the healthcare industry as a licensed clinical laboratory scientist and specialist in blood banking. I have had a rich career ranging from bench laboratory technologist to trainer, teacher, and all positions up to a director. My greatest accomplishment is that I am a mother of two amazing sons and a wife to an incredibly supportive and loving husband. My oldest son graduated from FSU and began his career as a chemical engineer in Savannah, Georgia, and my youngest son is in the Air Force.   I love the beach, traveling with my family, and having two dogs to ease the empty nest. However, my empty nest has opened up a room in my house for an art studio, and I recently created KMUArt Designs shop on Esty. I am blessed with a wonderful family that supports my creative art hobby. I currently work in healthcare information technology (IT) from home for a large corporation. The flexibility of my job has allowed me to discover myself as an artist, the Marion Cultural Alliance, the GFWC Greater Ocala Women’s Club, and the club's charity work. I look forward to serving our community and my artistic journey.

Statement

Hello! I am Kristy, creator of KMUArt Designs. At the end of 2020, I decided I needed a creative outlet to find peace and began to oil paint. It was the most rewarding journey of discovery and creating something beautiful on a canvas. I started dabbling in fluid acrylic art, which appealed to my scientific side. The flow of color and random patterns that emerge on the canvas from mixing different mediums, layering paints, make this painting style organically abstract, unpredictable, and a delight to create.

I draw my inspiration from the year-round Florida sunshine, springs, and beaches. This drew me down the road of learning oil painting techniques for landscapes and then I moved towards combining fluid elements in with traditional acrylic/oil for a unique and unexpected take on my traditional painting style.
