Estelle Cress is a Creative Visual Artist whose foray into the realms of drawing and painting has been shaped by a myriad of experiences and fueled by a fervent desire to effect positive change in the world. Hailing from the now-extinct town of Bakhmut, Ukraine, and raised on a Soviet military base nestled in the majestic Caucasus Mountains, Estelle's formative years were profoundly influenced by her surroundings. The Orthodox churches, abandoned castles, and breathtaking landscapes etched an indelible mark on her artistic soul.Despite a childhood steeped in history, literature, and a deep appreciation for nature, Estelle's journey took an unexpected turn as she navigated the tumultuous landscape of Eastern Europe during her teenage years, bearing witness to historic events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall. Arriving solo in Los Angeles, California, in 1994, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery, immersing herself in academia at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), ultimately graduating with honors in politics.While her academic pursuits initially veered away from the arts, her choice of politics aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the recurring wars that had ravaged her homeland. Additionally, the harsh realities of conflict and displacement during the recent Ukraine-Russia war stirred something profound within Estelle's soul, leading her to find solace and purpose in the creation of art. Drawing and painting became not only a means of self-expression but also a powerful tool for advocating for humanity amidst the chaos of political turmoil.Although Estelle is 100% Russian-born in Ukraine, her art stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment to the sanctity of human life, transcending political divides and national loyalties. Through every brushstroke, she endeavors to convey her emotions, shed light on the plight of others, and champion the universal values of humanity. With her creativity and meticulous attention to detail, she crafts works that not only captivate the eye but also resonate deeply with audiences, fostering a heightened sense of empathy and connection.Beyond her artistic pursuits, Estelle is passionately engaged in activities related to organic homesteading, food, forests, and birdwatching, reflecting her multifaceted interests and deep love for the natural world.
