Ellen Hosafros

Over the course of a 50-year writing career, Ellen Hosafros was an award-winning corporate corporate communications director, journalist, lifestyle editor, and newspaper features illustrator with a specialty in cartooning. She retired in 2020 and has immersed herself in surrealist, abstract and impressionistic painting using oils, acrylics and alcohol ink. She has previously exhibited at The Brick, NOMA and Webber Gallery.

Drawing upon the unconscious mind, as well as symbols, dreams, and occasionally the spirit world, my surrealistic paintings interpret and explain life as I see it. As an oil painter, I lean into the strange, embrace the unexpected, and revel in the unconventional.
