Marjorie Dodrill

Marjorie has been a professional oil/acrylic/watercolor painter in galleries throughout Central California and the coast and here in Florida for the past 24 years. She has painted her entire adult life and enjoys painting nature subjects.   She is known for her floral portraits which  were on the cover of magazines in California, but she also loves to paint water, sunsets and Florida birds.  She recently completed a 3 x 5' commission for a Scottsdale, AZ Gallery and enjoys doing commissions and working with clients.  Marjorie has had two solo shows, one at the California State Capitol and she was invited by the Leesburg Center for the Arts for a solo show and has been featured in California galleries plus having paintings in the Sacramento History Museum and the Folsom History Museum.  "Painting gives me a sense of peace and I try to incorporate that feeling in  my paintings.  My hope is to draw people right into the painting and they feel a connection to it.

Statement

After graduating from college, my AF husband and I lived in England for four years and were able to visit all the renown European art galleries throughout Europe and later Washington D.C.  I knew then that I wanted to create art too, so I read and studied then copied the masters and took art workshops for years.  I have been honing my art skills my entire life.

My love is oil paints on canvas and I also enjoy working with the improved acrylics.  Occasionally, I have an opportunity to use watercolor for clients who wish a watercolor painting.  I enjoy doing commissions because the patrons receives a wished for painting which has meaning throughout their life and becomes a family legacy.
